Do you have a sewing machine that's gathering dust or seen some lovely fabric that would make the perfect cushion cover, but you don't know how to get started?

Book a lesson with me, Amanda, and I can help. Take a look at the options below and use the contact form or phone to book. Before you know it, you'll be running up a summer skirt or a pair of curtains over the weekend!

All classes are arranged at your home - I will come to you, anywhere within a 20 mile radius of Berkhamsted in Hertfordshire, (or further if expenses paid) and classes can be for one to four people. (discount for three or four)

I can provide equipment and materials if needed but we can discuss this when booking.

for complete beginners (or those that have just forgotten!)

learn to use your own machine or try one of mine.

you will learn to:

  • wind a bobbin and thread the machine
  • adjust the stitch length
  • sew a straight seam, finishing the ends
  • turn the corner
  • use  a zigzag stitch, adjusting stitch length and width
  • try any other stitches you might have eg buttonholes, stretch and decorative stiches
